How do you import an image from gimp to inkscape. I was drawing an image in gimp and wanted to finish it in inkscape. But when I try to find the image through Inkscape it isn't there. But when I look for it with out any program it's where I saved it. Maybe I'm suppose to change the image to a bmp or something else right now it's saved as a xcf type file. How do you do this?

When you go to save the project in GIMP you want to save it as file that Inkscape can import or open. BMP, JPEG, TIFF, PNG. Those are just examples. Try to choose something higher quality. The reason you can't "see" it is because it's not a file format InkScape understands.

Inkscape on Windows has not implemented the XCF format. Use another format. Maybe you need to experiment a little to get gimp layers transferred to Inkscape layers.

How do I change it to a different file like the ones mentioned? Sorry if these questions are very basic but I'm as new to this as you could get. Thanks for the help!

If it is multilayered, you should flatten it (in GIMP).
Then save as some standard format PNG, JPG, TIF ...
