Re: newbie needs help

Hi Linda, welcome to the T-Shirt Forums!

what i want to be able to do is able to put my site in the browswer and then it would go straight to my site.
Your problem doesn't sound like a spreadshirt premium issue, it sounds like a "domain name" issue.

Did you recently buy a domain name that you would like to have redirected to your spreadshirt store?

If so, you'll need to go to the place where you registered your domain name and see how to use their "URL Forwaring" or "Redirection" features.

I'm assuming that when you say "put my site in the browser and then it would go straight to my site" that you mean put your "domain name" in your browser and have it go to your spreadshirt store.

I hope this helps some. If you have any other questions, feel free to post :)

You don't have to have your own domain name to use Spreadshirt (unless you want to be able to type in www.yoursite.com and go to your site) - Rodney just thought that might have been the problem you were having, so he offered advice on how to fix that problem. It's not very clear what your problem actually is, as we're not sure what you're trying to do.
Re: newbie needs help

sorry i didnt make it more specific but rodney was correct. what i want to be able to do is be able to do www.yoursite.com and show everything that i have.

ok so now i have a domain name/website so how do i connect them. also is there a way i can make them into catagories?

im new at this so im not sure really how im suppose to do it.

I think FerverWear and other members explain and show you how to do a RE-DIRECT on this thread: http://www.t-shirtforums.com/showthread.php?t=30&page=6

if im off topic and the above is the wrong link give me the wipzz... .:)
Re: newbie needs help

i read ferverwears thread on how to do it and i did it. and im still seeing how its being forward.

when i put in the browser. duckpuddle.com it still shows the forwarding addy as spreadshirt.

i read somewhere on here that some think its a cop out when u use spread shirts pics. well i am usin the pics but im also doing alot of saying until i can purchase the corel product.

Im out in the middle of nowhere where the stores are about 45 minutes to an hr to get to. But i figured i would put something up in my shop until i can do more of my own when i get the corel.
Re: how to link sites

You'll want to go into the settings for your domain with whoever you registered your domain with. Then, simply look for a section or option that says 'redirect', and enter your spreadshirt URL; anyone going to www.yourdomain.com should be redirected automatically.

(I've not used Spreadshirt so I don't know about categorizing them; I imagne there is - someone else will likely comment on that soon enough.)

linny: Please do not keep posting new threads repeating questions you've already asked. Have some patience; someone will probably have some of the answers you seek, but you can't expect them to respond instantly.

Have you tried logging in to the your account, or control panel, or similar area at the place where you registered the domain and looking for the URL forwarding/redirection options that Rodney mentioned?
Re: newbie needs help

i figured out how to connect them. just when i put in the duckpuddle.net in the browser i still see the forwarding addy as spreadshirt eventhough i masked it. no biggie just thought it was odd
Re: newbie needs help

Your url is displaying in the URL field, not spreadshirt's. All the links are still on spreadshirt, but clicking on them still leaves you with your domain unchanged in the URL field. It looks like it's working just how masking is supposed to work.
Re: newbie needs help

thanks for ur reply. I still see it so its probably just me

im still trying to figure out how to do the create a shirt link in the site.
Re: newbie needs help

yay me i finally figured out how to put the create a shirt on my site. silly me it was there all along and never noticed it.
Re: newbie needs help

Also keep in mind that if you "hide" spreadshirt's URL when the domain forwards, (using stealth forwarding or domain masking or whatever the place where you registered your domain calls it) it can sometimes mess up the functioning of the shopping carts for customers using IE6 with the default settings.

I don't know if this is true for spreadshirt's shopping cart, but it has to do with shopping carts needing "cookies" to be set to operate and the fact that IE6 doesn't allow cookies to be set for "third party" domains in the default setting. Third party meaning, if your domain is duckpuddle.com and you forward it to spreadshirt.com but "hide" the spreadshirt.com domain name, it actually loads the spreadshirt domain in a "hidden" invisible frame and the cookie would be coming from spreadshirt but IE6 thinks the cookie should be from duckpuddle.com

That's probably more explaination than you needed, but it may be something you want to ask in the spreadshirt forums to see if it might be a problem.

It can also cause a problem with the SECURITY lock that shows up in browsers. If your domain is showing instead of the spreadshirt, then customers might not see the important security lock when they check out.

:duplicate threads merged together :) :
rodney wow that was alot of info and yes i understand about the IE6 So i stopped playing with the domain name and just left it the way it is. It dont matter to me if spreadshirt is shown or not. i just got the domain name to make it more professional.
