I have been visiting and browsing this great forum without registering, and I now that I have purchased my first Heat Transfer machine I decided to become a member.

I would like to start a small t-shirt business (home based only). I would like to start small and seeing the informative post and threads in here, I could be a better and informed designer.

My machine are CUYI (HK brand), I think it should do as my first machine. Just testing the water first.
I don't have a pigment based printer yet, but I do have a Canon iP2700 which was dye based ink, which as I read about the dye vs pigment ink are not great for t-shirt. Hopefully I could get a pigment based printer like Epson.
I already have a heat Transfer paper which is 3G JetPro for both the light and colored shirt. Already have enough design to start printing but my printer is dye ink based. Maybe I should start experiment with it and see the result.

Thanks for the read everyone.:D

I also consider myself a newbie olan..It has been a year since my wife and I started our tshirt printing business..we have a redsail cutter/plotter, a heat press and epson printer using pigment ink.
In our first month we encountered a problem with our heatpress that's why we bought a stahls heat press. It is very accurate (in terms of temp. and pressure), and well built. We also use 3G transfer paper. The print result is great.
In terms of inkjet printer, i recommend epson. We have used canon ip2700 but we encountered many problems. The print head is susceptible to clogging especially on pigment inks. You have to replace the cartridges when this happens.
Good luck and happy printing!

Thanks. I recently purchased an Epson T13 with pigment ink without CISS, as I would like to see the result with the Durabrite ink first. Thankfully I didn't convert my Canon as I would get a dye based CISS anyway. Already have my first customer, 52 shirts with small colored logo. I don't have a cutter yet (I hope to get one as manually cutting an intricate logo is tedious). If business is good I would complete my equipment. What type of heat press machine you have before the stahls? I can't afford it so I get the cheaper one.
