 I just bought a used epson 7600 stylus pro. Well it came with a storage unit auction I won. It came with 5 new "toners". After doing research I want to try this thing out. I'm going to attempt to make our family reunion T-shirts and my sisters softball shirt. I know that all material has to be polyester. I want to know how to switch it to dye sub ink. Should I just buy empty cartridges and fill them with the ink? I'm 100% new to this. I've never made a t-shirt or anything. I just figured I'd try this thing out since I'm stuck with it now. I just ordered a heat press machine, now what? Can someone walk me through the steps please :)

Sounds like you got money to blow? If not then I'd suggest you research the Dye Sublimation section as you may get most of your answers from previous posts. Bringing that 7600 up to specs for sublimation printing will surely cost you more than it would to invest in a smaller 13" x19" wide format printer. That way you can take small steps until you ready to step up to a >24" printer. Which also means you're gonna need a heat press big enough to press 24" wide substrates. I'm guessing you didn't buy a heat press larger than 16in x 20in? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Also you can always just do the pressing and sub-contract the printing. Check Dave out at S&K Manufacturing, Inc. Home of the Best Purple Martin Houses and Printing Products on the Market From all the feedback they do great work and pricing is reasonable.

Also you may look into purchasing plastisol transfers for your family shirts. Check Heat Applied Custom Screen Printed - Digital Transfers | Transfer Express for that.

Good luck. And next time post in the correct place. You got this under "Dye Sub Pricing"!! Try going back one level to the "Dye Sublimation" area. You'll get more answers.
