I recently got my first cutter and am looking to learn how to make signs banners and apply vinyl to windows and other things. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a good book or dvd set or maybe an online course? I've tried searching the forum and looking on signs 101. I'd just like a complete package rather than random tutorials here and there.

As of right now I have no materials. My cutter is a creation pcut cr730 25". I'm using signcut with it and CS5 for my designs. I've been successful cutting t shirt vinyl. I work at a place that has some graphtec cutters and they also do window viny there, so I sorta know the basics, but they really amateur at best. I want to learn the right way to do it. I've screenprinted for 12 years and I like to take pride in my work.

I'd say, the best way to learn is on the field more than classes or videos, although are a great tool,
you could volunteer or part time w a local store w experience. Every job brings something new. in my experience a proper application it's key in the process (no bubbles) & just w practice you get the skill. You could start w your own graphics.

I too am new to the vinyl world and am working with a CE500-60. I am using illustrator CS5 and Lion. I ran into issues getting Cutmaster 2 to work on mac and I found Signcut Pro. So I'm just using the trial right now and it seems to be working.

I am just wondering what I can do to optimize the use of the vinyl. How could I cut more than one design in a single cut. Can I load my graphic and then say a second one and rotate just that one graphic say horizontal to fill in unused areas of the vinyl?

Hey guys, i use gerber omega, had graphix advantage from back in the day, and corel mostly for designs but i use photoshop for detailed work. I advise watch all the youtube videos, which theres tons, and then sign up for some classes at an adult community school or even a local college that offer non credit classes. That way you get to ask all the questions you want in person. Oh and theres also online school thats what as well.
