new to this.... with a question

So i have decided to get into the t-shirt business. I am in college for Marketing Management and Advertising, and i want to work for myself. I found a screen printing machine on craigslist, I figured this would be a good place to start.
I actually found 2... one is a Brown Mfg. MasterPrinter screen press (6-color)
the other is a 4-color, unknown type and comes with extras... flasher, paints, chemicals, tools, screens. it is about the same price. Think i should start with the 4 color, or jump to the 6?
Thanks... I look forward to working with you all!

Tell us more what you expect to do with the press. How many colors in your designs? Is one larger than the other and do you have space for the larger one?

Post links to the ads, let us have a look.
Look at durability of each press design, but I would lean towards the 6!

I will mostly be doing custom work, no specific designs in mind.
The 6 color press looks like it will hold up a lot better than the 4 color one. It's built like a tank. But you'll need a small army to move it too.

Bottom line is the 6 color is more versatile depending on your needs. You'll be able to print 4 color proccess on darks. It may be overkill though if you are just starting out. There are a lot cheaper beginning presses out there, especially if you plan on doing smaller custom orders. Do you know how to silkscreen at all?

The 4 color includes extras that are probably worth $600 to $700. If you buy the 6 color, you will still need a dryer and exposure unit.
I have never screenprinted, looking forward to learning tho! I have an ex-tattoo artist who is making designs for me who is proficient in photoshop and airbrushing. I have read a few books and watched videos on the steps of silk screening. I feel comfortable that I could do it correctly, and I have around 3000 to invest into the business.
