This area of t-shirt printing is completly new to me.
I saw a guy in the mall today printing t-shirts through a printer then using a heat press to dry the ink. I tried to get as much info out of him as I could but he wasn't talking.
So I am wondering if this DTG is what he was doing?

At the moment I am using a heat press and having issues with the transfer paper. So just wondering if DTG is any better.

Would you recommend DGT over heat press? Is it alot more expensive.

I don't even know where to start looking.

Any tips would be great!

Thanks,
Crysta

For a cheap used DTG expect 7000+ dollars, for a spankin new decent one 15000, and they are still highly buggy in most cases. I heard the Brothers are not too bad, and the Kiosk II is pretty good. Steer away from Fast T-Jet --Derrick

Yes, it sounds like the guy was using a DTG printer. They usually run around $15,000+ new.

The quality from a DTG printer is better than the quality you can get from an inkjet transfer (in my opinion)

I don't even know where to start looking.
Right here in this forum is a good start. Just start reading through threads to research the different machines and printing methods :)

Each type of printing has its pros and cons. I would suggest to read up a bit on it all and make a decission form there also goto to a few of the shows and see them run and also ask questions to the operators at the shows. They are a good machine and have there place in the market as does the transfer method. They are however not a replacement for screen printing. Very good fun though.
