New to biz and evaluating software, help!

Newbie doing research and exploring the easiest software for someone with limited experience in computer graphics. Currently am trying out CorelDrawx5 and like its functions for my purpose, but cannot seem to format text beyond basics. Am I doing something wrong or is there something comparable? Any recommendations and feedback is appreciated.

What are you trying to do with text?

Are you using Draw or PhotoPaint?
I want to be able to manipulate it, apply effects, 3d. I am using a 30 day trial, no manual - do they exist?? and have not been able to figure out either with draw or photo paint how to do this.

Is it possible and I haven't got there yet? I do like the program and would prefer to use this one.
If you are on a XP Box
Click start -->Programs-->CorelX5
You should see the manuals/documentation link there.

Also try here --> www.coreldraw.com
This search might help as well --> Search - CorelDRAW.com
It is almost limitless, what you can do with text in Corel. Try effects dropdown or contour, etc. in left toolbox. It takes some time to learn it all. I have never read the book, but I have picked up a lot of tips from this and other boards. God Bless.
