Ok, I know this is in the infant stages, but I'd like some feedback before I get in over my head.

This is my new site selling tees from little podunk towns across America. Just want some feedback on color choices for the site etc.

Again, I know it's in the VERY beginning stages. I just hate to go back and alter every page if someone says 'you're colors are all wrong'.

Thanks!

I like the idea and site! The colors did look a bit darkish and uninviting to me, but that could just be a personal preference.
That's what I need to hear! Thanks Rodney.

Any other feedback?

chalk up another compliment for the site and idea.

i too liked the color scheme. my only suggestion would be to figure out how you might get the designs to "pop" out a little more. those are the products. they need to command the attention.

I really liked the idea and the site! The color was unique and fit with the top of page fonts and logos!!! Let me know when you do a SCHENECTADY, NY design and I'll buy one. Pronounced; "Skin-Neck-Titty" fast

The colours are a little muddy. The blue on blue shirt doesn't have much readability. It's a decent proof of concept though.

If you weren't aware, there are already sites out there doing similar things (one in particular focuses on regional diners and other similar small shops). I'm not saying it's a crowded market (I have no idea how much it can bear), but you will have competition.

Even I know Schenectady, and I'm on the other side of the world :) I don't know if it's just because it's a name that sticks with you or what, but it seems disproportionately well known for its size.

Yep, I know Schenectady too.

I'm really looking for obscure little towns with funny or completely inappropriate names.

For exmple, the town I'm sitting in right now is Mt. Pleasant, IA. It's smack dab in the middle of one of the flattest areas I've ever been in. Nothing but corn for miles and miles. I couldn't resist making fun of that. :)

So, if anyone knows of any other little podunk towns that would be worthy of becoming a t-shirt, let me know. I'll send you a freebie or two if I print them.

yea man, I'm loving the irony in your shirts, and think that the concept is cool. (the next iteration of the funny state shirt phenom) :) your designs look great, as well, and I like the site layout. I think you've got something there.

Do you plan to market your shirts to local retail establishments in those towns? Even small towns have some kind of fascination with "tourism," and I'd think with your designs that you could capitalize on it somehow.

I was sort of thinking about that, but do you think I would actually offend some of these people?

Also, I was thinking of sending a press release to each of the towns newspapers, if they have one. I'm sure some may be excited to find out that there town is gaining some national recognition. Even though it is VERY limited recognition. :)

Very much depends on the town/people running the stores there.

Some people love making fun of their town, some people take it all way too seriously. I don't see your stuff as ever being mean spirited (i.e. it's all in good fun), so I don't see the harm in trying.

I'm a sucker for a free shirt and I'm a Texas boy at heart...

Bee Cave, Texas (http://www.beecavetexas.com/)
Onalaska, Texas (get it? get it? http://cityofonalaska.us/)
Possum Kingdom Lake (not a city but funny nonetheless http://possumkingdomlake.com/)

Now Texas isn't know for its beach front property but some people go overboard...

Jamaica Beach, Texas (quite the hole http://www.ci.jamaicabeach.tx.us/)
Nassau Bay, Texas (http://www.nassaubay.com/)
Tiki Island (http://www.villageoftikiisland.com/)

I think I may be using one of those!

Thanks. PM me your info so I can send you one once it's printed. :)

I'm probably being dense but no, I don't get it (either that or I do get it and it's just not very funny).
