Hello,

My name is Shane and I'm new to the forum. I own a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school in Northern California, and got tired of paying to have shirts and things done. In college I was a graphic design major, and have been working with AI and PS for years, and on the side often do web work and flyers and such for other schools like my own. I decided to get into making my own shirts and things, but after much reading decided that heat press would be the better route then screening for me.

So...I went out and picked up the Roland GX-24 and the Stahls Hot Fusion Swing Away Press. It's a learning process for sure, still knowing which blade to use for what job, what pressure and time to use for each media type, etc etc. I'm pretty self sufficient when it comes to "the search" button and trying to find my own answers to things ... but there's one thing I just can't get.

There are a few companies that have gotten into the business of heat pressing vinyl logos onto the BJJ uniforms as opposed to attaching physical patches.....it looks great, and I have the equipment to do it, and I have my schools logos ready to go in vector format, already cut and weeded, but I just can't seem to find the proper type of vinyl that adheres to this rough/bumpy surface well, and is durable to lots of washes and abrasion from being dragged around on the mats nightly.

I thought I'd reach out to the companies who were doing it, and just ask hey what are you guys using...I'm a hobby guy and I'm not trying to steal your business, I just want to play with my press and cutter and see what I come up with ... naturally .. non responses or rude responses. I really need some guidance ... I've been playing with Spectra Flex from Imprintables ... it doesn't seem to want to stick very well to the BJJ uniforms and sometimes even though it says I can hot peel the letters come up.

I need to adjust some pressure, but I really have no idea of what to base this adjustment on or how much is to much to press the vinyl down into the nooks and crannies of the uniform.

ANY guidance would be great ... I've searched on this forum for GI, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kimono, BJJ, Judo ... everything I could even think of, not to mention countless google searches which often bring me to this forum but never to the answer to my question. I'm really hoping someone out there can help me.
