Hey everyone. I'm a college student, living near Chicago. I've been wanting to start a t-shirt "company" for a while. Finally with some time this summer, I think I'm going to prepare to pull the trigger.

I know I need to search around and read here before jumping into it, but I would really appreciate a little direction.

Would someone post a list of things that I should start researching for heat pressing shirts? Press, printer, ink, etc...

Thanks a lot! I look forward to soaking up as much info as possible.

Hi Charlie,

Where is near Chicago?

I would recommend before you do anything, is first figure out who are your potential customers are. Like any business, you must fill a "need". Next, determine the best way to fill that need. There are lots of ways to be "in the business" and not produce anything yourself. At this point while your still in college, it would be difficult to regularly produce anything. You may get customers in the middle of summer, who may want to order more in November, and you may not be able to fulfill the order because of school.

Here is the trick, you sell and then contract (at a discounted price) someone else to produce the jobs. You can have the orders drop shipped, or you can deliver them yourself. You would do this all yourself, under YOUR company name. There is virtually no investment, you would only need enough working capital for placing the orders.

This is just the basic idea, but is this enough info for now? Please let me know if you would like more details.
