That's a big budget for a heat press. I spent around $675 on my HIX 15x15. It's not automatic or anything, but it does a good job. You could do the same and spend of the rest of your budget somewhere else ... like advertising.
Yeah, that is a very nice budget, you can look at the larger and high end models with auto open and digital times. The best thing to do is to look at Stahl's, Hix, Hotronix (sp?). Go around to Specialty Graphics, Imprintables Warehouse, Alpha Supply and some of the other preferred vendors. You'll find them listed in the link to the left in the menu. Some of them offer discounts to forum members, and on that budget, you might get a nifty chunk of change off to price.

Also, looking at the models, you can see what bells and whistles come with which machine. In your price range, you'll get bells and whistles.

Once you zero in on a few machines that you like, you can search their name and model on here for feedback from users that own them.
Look at automatic or draw presses, Hix, Geo Knight or Hotronix.
What type of production to do you expect. Unless you are planning on printing 100+ shirts a day I would recommend a manual or semi automatic machine such as the Stahls Auto Clam.
Hey Gary, Is this a new buiss,? Do you do other types of Garments? What else do you do in your buiss,?

Its hard to answer without knowing some background. If you are new I would recommend a lower priced press as Ed said. If you have a large base already then a high production unit would be great. If you are starting out maybe look into other types of services as well. This way you have more to offer each customer.
geo knight swing away dk20, great machine, love the swing away feature for positioning items, plus it has a life time warrenty on the heating element
