Hello all this is my first post,

I am new to this world, but looking forward to learning.

I have been handed down an old heat press from my Father who thinks he purchased it around 20 years ago and isn't sure if he even ever used it.

We switched it on and it heats up all ok..

Any idea on the best way to use it for tshirt printing? We have no idea which temp to set the top and/or bottom to?

All the best

Cool!

Depending on what you are printing (plastisol transfers, inkjet transfers, etc) they will come with instructions on time and temperature. Some of these need to be pretty close, and some don't. You can get a laser temperature gun at most hardware stores for around $30. Get one of those and you will be able to tell what temparatures you get at the different settings.

Good luck,
Nick

Just noticed you said top and bottom temparature. Are there heating elements on both sides? Most presses today just have the top heat up. The bottom is usually some sort of padding. Its probably a lot safer to have the bottom temperature OFF, way less chance of burning yourself as you are positioning the shirt and placing the transfer.
