New Baby Clothing Designer

Hello,

I'm just starting a baby clothing line. I will be working independently and don't have a large chunk of change for start-up money. I'm ready to buy some Ts in bulk to get started with my appliqued, embroidered and screen painted infant and toddler onsies.

I've been searching online for decently priced organic onsies and fabric. I'm shocked at how high the price points are. I want to be able to offer my product at a fair price, so that the non-yuppy crowd can buy original, creative, organic clothing for their babies too. I need to find a good deal for the organic fabric or already made onsies in order to be able to accomplish this goal. I also want to be able to make a decent profit to pay for my own baby's needs. :) Has anybody had any luck with finding some good organic baby onesie or organic fabric companies? Do any of you want to get together to purchase a large amount wholesale?

I would also like to find a company that will make personal labels the onesies, instead of including their own labels. It would be great if I could find a company where I could purchase the onesies AND pay them to do screen designs too.

I don't know how applicable my next goal is, as this is a T-shirt website, but it never hurts to ask: I'd love to discover a company that will sew my designs on organic fabric for my other baby clothing designs. If I could find a place that would do all of these things, I'd be very happy. My biggest focus as I'm just starting out is just the onesies though. I'll expand more future. I would prefer to start small and simple.

Additionally, I don't have a business license, a seller's ID or permission to tax. Right now, I just want to start selling on etsy.com . At some point in the future, I'll expand and get more legit. Where can I purchase at wholesale prices without gowing through all the red tape first? Is this even a good idea?

Actually, go through the red tape first.. it clears the path and makes it easier for you to buy goods you need. Also be careful in using the word onesie as it is trademarked by Gerber. Use one piece garment. You don't want to get letters fro lawyers as some have. Apparel companies usually don't do screen printing. What you should do is make your designs and then have them made into plastisol transfers and make a few samples. As you sell the designs order what you need. There are a number of companies the sell what you want but you need to go trough that red tape and get a sellers permit or resale license. Lou
