Hello everyone. I just upgraded to the Epson 4880. I was using the 1280 which was a nightmare. I was hoping by spending the money on a far better printer I could avoid clogged print heads. Any advice before I load the ink.

I have the Epson 4800 and have had absolutely no problems with clogged nozzles using SubliJet inks! The printer is used everyday (had since December of 2006), except for weekends. The first thing I do on Mondays is to run a nozzle check, just to get things flowing after sitting for two days. I have yet to install the program that does automatic nozzle checks if the machine is not run within a certain amount of time ... Harvey Head Cleaner, I think it's called ... that's on my To-Do list ...

It should be a policy of all companies who sell bulk systems for the low end Epsons to make every customer sign a waiver before they purchase these disasters. The time and money lost on these low end systems can pay for getting a refurbished Epson 4800. We have been using the 4800 series without one sigle issue for sometime now. We have just received our Epson 9800 series today and look forward to firing that one up as well.

So far it's great. My tiles look fantastic! I would like to start doing t-shirts and other items. Right now I'm using mural 8 to print out the tiles. Is the multirip software necessary? I'm using just the Ar Tainium uv inks.

Tom,

If you are running 8-channels of ArTainium sublimation inks, you do not need MultiRIP. The only time you use MultiRIP is when you want to run two different inks (sublimation and heat transfer inks) in the same printer at the same time. Hope this clarifies things.
