Need some help on a cutter

Alright, I'm going to buy a vinyl cutter to add to my design services of Graphic and Web design. I'm not going into this totally blind. I've done a lot of research, and I have a few friends that have worked in sign shops.

What I will be doing starting out is just vinyl lettering for vehicles, and lettering for walls, items etc. I wanted to start out with a cheaper cutter for now and then maybe work myself up to a Roland when i can actually afford it.

I've been looking at the Copam, 24" cutter from USCutterDirect. Copam 24", 48", or 54" Vinyl Cutter - Professional model w/ 2-year Warranty

Sooner or later, I will be getting into some type of tshirt heat transfer..but I going to wait and see how the demand is in my area with Vinyl Lettering.

ANY help would be much appreciated!! I will be buying the cutter within the next week.

I have been told the Copam is a decent entry cutter. I know that roger (Planb on forum) has used one and had not complaints...So it might suit your purpose. FYI...while the Roland is a good cutter, it is not the end all cutter. I recently sold mine and bought a Puma III and I am very happy with it. You might want to check out Heat applied transfer vinyl for t shirt applications on prices.

Thanks for your help! I will check into the Puma III.
oh and what about the software that it has? What are the pros and cons of the one that's "free" and the other that you have to pay extra for.
I own a Copam 2500 25" and a LaserPoint 25". I am extremely happy with them, as well as the customer service provided by Ken and the entire US Cutter staff. (You have one stop shopping from US Cutter and the quality of the vinyl is excellent. I prefer the Easy Weed vinyl). Simply follow the instructions for the setup and interface to the letter and everything will work as advertised. I prefer the SignCutX2 over the free SignBlazer software that comes with the cutter, but that is just my opinion..

The Copam is the best imported Chinese unit on the market. It has been reviewed above a Roland, and just under a Summa or GraphTec, see for yourself: 333Signforums Product review

We just ordered a Puma III ourselves, and might decide to offer them in the near future if it checks out well. My other tech., Levi, has been working with it for 3 days now, and cannot get the darn thing to communicate on our Vista computer, but I have faith. Sweet looking unit, and it has the optical eye registration marks sensor system, so it would be great for contour cutting as well.

If you will not need contour cutting capabilities, the Copam is a great choice.
