Hello.. newbie here and want to get into more colors etc.. I have a 4 color press..

what is going to be the best way to separate/print this? It will be printed on black tshirts.. (I have the full res Illustrator file available)

I see 6 colors in this design.

white underbase , yellow in the eyes, and 4 different reds....not gonna happen with a 4 color press.

If wanting to stick with solid spot colors, I'd be inclined to eliminate the lightest almost white shade by making it white and one of the middle shades by combining it with the next darker or the next lighter.

This is how I would solve the problem. It was done in a rush, so take that into consideration with the halftones. THey probably should be smaller.

that could be done with 3 colors, red, yellow, and white, on a black shirt. Using halftone shading on white underbase. I have gotten browns by combining red and yellow halftones with the color of the black shirt, also the darker reds.

seems like it would be difficult to achieve a good result with 4 colors but do-able, just matter of being okay with the quality.

Another option to create the Burgundy/Brown color is to eliminate the underbase where the burgundy would print and change the burgundy to red. The red will darken on the black shirt and look close to burgundy.

I've done this method several times on projects and red works the best on black t's.

if you have a good grasp on how inks work based/underbased on a black tee you could pull it off, especially with halftoned red against the black tee. I do it often. you can get it figured out.
