Hey guys,

First of all, thanks to everyone who posts on and moderates this forum; along with the CatSpit and Ryonet videos, this site has been my main source of info regarding printing.

Here's my question: without using a RIP, what exactly do I need to do to utilize the Blackmax system? I read that if you enable separations you will print from all nozzles, which was true except it printed 4 different pages, so I had to feed the film through 4 times, and this made the image print a little wonky.

Can you enable seps and have them all print simultaneously, or do I need to manually feed the same sheet through over and over? And is there another trick I need to know of to print super black films?

Thanks guys!

I am a little confused at your question....what are you trying to print , 1 color or multiple colors?
when you print seperations , you are printing 1 color onto each film...so for example if you have a 2 color job..lets say red and blue...you print the red onto 1 film and the blue onto another......why are you sending the same film threw the printer more than once?

I think you need a rip to tell it to print from all the nozzles!

I am trying to print black only. I have black ink in all carts and read on this forum that people turn on the separations and the printer prints from all heads. At this point I am just going to adjust my settings and try to get the black cart to print super black, unless I can get the method I described figured out.

Thanks for the reply!

There is no separations setting on the printer. What graphics program are you using? I ask cause if you have never done this manually I might be able to steer you to a low cost separation program that would suit your needs, do you mainly work with vector or raster images?

After you separate in your graphics program you need to change the black color on your separations to a rich black, with all black cartridges 100C 100M 100Y 100 K. This will make it print from all channels without a rip.

I'm using CorelDraw X5 for my graphics. I think what you said about printing a rich black and doing 100 each C,M,Y,and K is where I am getting lost. If you know how to help me in CorelDraw that would be great.

And please do let me know about the separation program you mentioned, assuming it would work for me.

This is what I use. Are your images completely vector or do you use raster images(jpegs, bitmaps, tiff) also. There are a couple of options but I would need to know the above info. I you like you can PM me I would also be willing to help on the phone if your in the US.
