i made 50 shirts for my girlfriends employer. the lady who comunicated with me through the whole process through email said "can you make an itemized invoice for us?" i told her yes. i got a pad of the general transaction sheets/receipts at office supply store and hand wrote everything in. i talk to the payment guy when im all finished making the shirts and he could pay me right now if i can accept credit card payment. i don't have a credit card system set up. so plan B would be to design an official letter headed invoice that is more professional and send it to payment office and wait for check in mail. even if i did make one, it would have a home address on it. i don't even have a business name! i didn't really understand what i was getting into. the guy seemed like plan B might not even work. can anyone give me any help? thank!

You can find invoice templates on Microsoft Office's website. If you don't have MS Office, OpenOffice can open Office 2003 and earlier templates with no problems (not 100% sure about 2007/2010).

Go open a P.O. Box or a box at a UPS store immediately. I recommend a UPS store or better yet, a private mailbox at someplace like US Pack & Ship, that way they can receive UPS and FedEx deliveries. I don't even know why I'm paying for the larger mailbox at US Pack'n'Ship since they just hold anything that doesn't fit, but it's not that much more and I've had it so long I'm not going to change. This way you have an address to put on invoices as well as things like your contact information on your website's WHOIS without having to disclose your home address.

Square is the way to go. Higher fees on the transaction, but no monthly cc fees and you can use your smartphone to process the charge and its deposited in your account next day. We got rid of the traditional cc machine and switched to this.

Make sure to check into gopayment from intuit and payanywhere. Both are very competitive if not cheaper in some cases then square. Once I did a head to head with all three I went with and loose less with gopayment. Intuit's customer service has been stellar and funds turn around in one biz day. Just my experience.
