Might be the chips not seated correctly or something along those lines. There are a number of different CISS systems for a 1400, so let us know where you got it from so maybe we can be of more help.

Also I would start by contacting the person you purchased the CISS from.

i purchased it online from a chinese company called shenzhen NXY Technology Co. and i have no idea of how to contact them, but i got them really cheap, if i remember correctly it was 9 dollars
The only things I know to try would be to make sure the carts are seated down very well. If not then the chips dont always make good contact. The other thing would be to find a small format chip resetter and rest the chips.

If those things don't work chalk it up to lesson learned on losing the $9 and buy a better CIS. Try Continuous Ink Systems (CISS), Refillable Ink Cartridges, Continuous Ink System (CIS),Refillable Cartridges,Continuous ink systems,CIS,CISS,Bulk Ink,Refill Ink,ink refill,Refillable Cartridges,CIS Ink,Bulk Ink System,Ink Feed,Refill Kit,Refill Cartri
I use the 1400 with Epson ink and have great results. The newer inks have UV blocker in them and I'm not convinced that going to specialty inks is necessary.
I see CIS systems providing colored inks. Do I need to find systems that are set up for all black ink or can I add black in to the color ink reservoirs?
