I know it's something pvc, but exact material, cause there is a ton of pvc stuff on net.

I cut to deeply today and from left side so i have one inch cut. I will stick something for now from behind. But I wanna make my custom mats with different sizes.

Anybody have an idea what they are using for theirs?

cheap is dollar store cutting mats
clear and come in packs of two

i use re-positionable spray glue from the craft store

trick: i used to worry about transferring the outside lines for the material placement from the cameo onto the new mat
now i just guesstimate, throw the mat in and manually adjust in the studio program with the little arrows,
when the knife blade is centered over the upper-left corner it's ready

this trick means you can start your cut wherever you want on your mat,
as the knife blade always represents the upper-left corner of the mat in studio

handy for multiple test-cuts when trying to dial it in

Hey thanks for this. This will be usefull. I had 2 ''accidents'' today. One is with mat, the second one is seems I destroyed my blade on mylar :D I need new blade. This one doesn't cut like it did before.
I was looking at convertors for graphtec blades for cameo:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0748DY...liid=I1EMTDJRA3Q1IE&colid=22HUTYZII76NO&psc=0
But I don't know if they are any good.
I read somewhere you can use original roland blades with this converter.

I didn't find on google how to sharpen the blade mechanically until I get new ones. I seen Aluminium foil trick for sharpening, but sounds weird to me that would work.
Quite a weird day today.

i've seen that trick too, never tried it though

if it is not chipped, it would be worth a shot

i have a special little hardened steel sharpener for my secateurs that works on pretty much everything (corona makes one as well)
i even use it on those 'disposable blades' for box cutters, i get months of use out of them
not like a factory edge, but darn sharp

The price of cutting mats is extortionate. I too use cheap kids play mats also known as 'messy mats' in my Silver Bullet cutter. I've used them for years now. They have a printed cm grid on them and come in packs of 5 in different colours.

I spray them up with the excellent 3M ReMount repositionable adhesive (green can). I find these mats don't buckle like the stiffer original mats. They can be resprayed without cleaning down many times.

You'll find that, with practice, you won't cut through mats! :D

My Silver Bullet blades cut reliably for years so I don't consider 10 quid for a new blade an unnecessary expense. I wouldn't bother trying to sharpen blades, just replace them. Once again, chipped or broken blades are usually only experienced by beginners.

I tried setting from studio for a test. It was cutting like a butter few times. And then suddenly couldn't cut mylar and I was like what is the problem? -.- So I went on google and everybody was writing that force 33 is bad... That was the force which was set in studio by default on the preset I was testing.

Yeah, with a Cameo you have to buy a new blade holder every time. The Silver Bullet, as with most other cutters, has a solid metal blade holder and you just buy blades to fit. They look like this ...

Also, I found the longevity of Cameo blades to be poor unless you are just cutting thin, soft material, like vinyl. To be fair though, that's what most people use them for in this forum I suppose.

that's why I wonted to use that graphtec adapter which I linked in my previous post. For the same money I could get 15 blades, with cameo only one...

Not specifically to do with this post, but for anyone reading this and considering which cutter to buy, I have to say that the Cameo's and Silver Bullets are much more versatile than a dedicated vinyl cutter. Opportunities exist for making profit from many things, such as these Christmas crackers I made a couple of years ago for my daughter. They were printed on a Canon A3+ inkjet printer and cut on my Cameo 2 with the large mat ...
