I took advantage of TSC's free shipping last week to buy a few samples. Thought I'd post my general impressions pre-wash. Looking forward to any comments if you've used these shirts.

Note: comments on fit are about how they fit me so it may not be helpful to you. I usually wear an XL in most shirts, athletic fit XL shirts are too snug for me. One thing that surprised me was how many of these shirts turned out to be slim fitting.

Tultex Navy Hoodie XL – soft, comfortable and fits well but will probably be snug once it shrinks

Anvil Recycled Green XL – nice color, itchy, short, slim fitting

Anvil Ringspun Black XL – soft, long, slim fit
Anvil Ringspun Black 2XL – soft, long, roomy fit
The Anvil Ringspun looks exactly like the AA ringspun, right down to the type of tag. If the tag were removed it would be indistinguishable from an AA.

Anvil Jersey Sportshirt Cobblestone XL – long, slim fit

Bayside Heavy Cotton Navy XL – extra long, slim fit, tight neck

Jerzee Heavy Cotton Cornflower XL – long, not roomy

Union Made Heavy Cotton Ash XL – long, slim fit, tight neck

Thanks for the helpful info. I have used both Hanes ringspun and Anvil ringspun and find the Anvil fabric much better quality. Just got a sample of the Gildan ringspun and was dissappointed. Do you know of a similar t-shirt with a classic cut with longer sleeves?

Not off hand. You know, all those shirts except the Bayside, are still sitting in the box. I pressed a Dowling sample onto the Bayside and I've been wearing it but the rest I never worn. The Bayside has turned out to be a very nice, if somewhat generic, t-shirt. Not soft like the ringspun shirts but so far it hasn't shrunk or lost it's shape. But at over a dollar more per shirt than the Beefy-T, it'd be a hard sell to anyone not specifically wanting American made.

Haven't tried the Gildan ringspun yet.

I have decided I don't like the Bayside shirt. I wore it again yesterday and spent the day pulling at the collar which is way too tight. Also the fabric is rough, very rough, and just isn't worth the price they are asking.

Have you tried Quail Hollow ringspun? I just got in some samples and they are very nice. Don't know what the wholesale price is on them yet.

No. For years Deltas were used on cheap, cheap, promotional shirts. They were too tight, too thin & itchy. Then I saw some in Target a while back and they looked nice and were very soft but I didn't try it on. I have an account with Delta but I've never bought anything from them. I just tried looking at their products again but their website is down.

Is the Anvil Recycled you ordered style 420 or style 520? The 420 is 5oz 100% cotton, while the 520 is a 5.5 oz cotton/acrylic/"other" blend. You said it was itchy, so I'm guessing that means it wasn't very soft. I would think the 520 would be soft because of the acrylic, but it is slightly a heavier weight so I don't know. I guess you haven't worn it or washed it yet, though?

Be careful with TULTEX - they often come apart at the seams and they supposedly got their act together on the tear aways but we still think they are poor quality. A lot of customers who ordered them did not like them. The Tshirts you sell/recommend are a reflection of you and your business !

Best of luck ,

FYI -- Washed the quail hollow ringspun and found it too thick and heavy for what I'm looking for and the neck pulled and became puckered after washing.

My policy has always been to stick with the well known companies who care about their brand. Hanes, Gildan etc.... they are solid...any new comer I would check out their stuff first and not offer it to my regular clients just in case of returns etc...
