T-shirt Forum members,

I want to thank you guys for so many great posts about this business!

Thanks to all the research I did in this forum, they just delivered my starter equipment!

1. 15 x 15 Sunie (seiki) Heat Press
2. Epson 1400 printer (refurb from the factory - great price)
3. CIS Pigment ink for the Epson 1400
4. GC-721 24" Gold Cut vinyl cutter (from Uscutter)

It's like Christmas in Texas, only 70 degrees hotter!

Thanks guys. Now I gotta find me some good wholesale shirts, some transfer paper and some vinyl rolls.

For Light and Dark t-shirts, can you guys give me the latest opinion on transfer papers?

Thanks again!

Hey Thanks!
Re: My equipment has arrived (Christmas in August!)

Congratulations. I too might get my equipment this week, so I'm hoping I'll be as happy as you are.

Good luck with the new toys. For lights I use JPSS and I don't do darks so can't help you there. For vinyl, I like Thermoflex Plus. It goes on great and has a very light hand that gets better with washings. It also weeds great. Keep us informed.

Excited might even be a better adjective.

I appreciate the advice on both counts. Thanks.

When I was first learning I bought a case of irregular shirts to practice on. But then I opted out of shirts so the case sat unopened. Now I'm into shirts, screen printing, vinyl, foil, and rhinestones so I'm glad I have those shirts to practice on. It's Christmas here in Ohio too. My stuff just got here last week, it's all assembled and ready to go. Now I just have to figure out how to use my new toys.

You can get irregular shirts to learn on dirt cheap. Some have ink blots on them, some have bad seams, snags, etc. so I wouldn't use them for anything but shop rags anyhow.
Good luck with your new venture.

Yep, so far I have put the heat press to the test, but without my other equipment. I bought a couple of transfers from Michaels. You guys that have done this, probably know where I'm going. They are sold as Iron on transfers.

So unlike stock transfers from Proworldinc (which I am about to buy - Ed) they do not have any instructions for using a Heat Press. So one rhinestone press went on pretty good. I think one stone was left behind.

The second rhinestone transfer was bad. I lost about 20% of the stones on the paper.

I tried one stock color transfer , and it was pretty lousy.

Then my wife had some Halloween glittery transfers that I put on. These came out Perfect!

Moral of the story, I can't wait to get some transfer paper and start printing my own, and then get a real good feel for where my heat press needs to be set for these every time.

Also, with Proworldinc's stock transfers, they actually give instructions with the transfers, so I'll try some of those as well.

I've got a lot to learn, but so far so good!
