My heat press turns on and off

8557 Views 7 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  LancerFlorida
Hello, I just bought a cheap heat press to start to make t-shirts but when I turn on the heat press after a while It starts to turn off and on as It makes a sound. I tried most of the outlets in my place and also checked that everything else in the apartment work well.

What could be the problem?
Anyone knows a heat press repair shop in florida?

Thank you in advance.

Hello, I just bought a cheap heat press ... but when I turn on the heat press after a while It starts to turn off and on as It makes a sound....
My best guess other than it being cheap is there is and overload or short happening. You could open the cover where the electronics are and make sure everything is connected tight and nothing is scorched.

You might want to open the piggy bank and get something more professional.
Unless you are skilled in electronics, DO NOT OPEN THE COVER, even if the machine is switched off and unplugged. Electolytic capacitors can still hold enough charge to kill you, as has happened to many unsuspecting people.

Get a qualified electrician to take a look.
Have you contacted the supplier?
I think that your press keep the temperature to the grad that you put that's why turn off and on

THIS.... when the press gets up to temp, it shuts off, then pops on when it needs to keep the temp up...prolly nothing wrong
You need to read up on how a thermostat works! 😉
OK.
What does your Heat Press manual or UL lable state to be the service amperage?
Most manufactures suggest 20 amps and most operators plug them into a 15 Amp outlet. If you don't know the difference, go to Home Depot and let those folks show you what a 20 Amps outlet look like.

Next I would investigate an 'overheat' situation tripping the safety auto shut off/reset thermostat.

Then I would open the book that lists the benefits of buying quality tools. Your heat press is the only tool for which there is no work around.

Call the distributor of the HIGHEST price model of the brand you have. They may guide you to a resource for repairs.
