I haven't emulsion-ed any screens in a while. I went to go put some emulsion into my scoop-coater, when i noticed most of the emulsion in my gallon sized tub has thickened into globuals, to the point of no return. Its getting towards its 3 month experation date.. but why did this happen?
I want to assume its just because the seal might not have been closed all the way (due to me never cleaning the rim ), does that sound right to everyone else?

Ive coated some screens the best i could, and im going to test and see if they will still expose. Anyone ever dealt with anything similar? Frm now on im going to care more about cleaning up my emulsion tub for sure

Did the temps get really 'summer hot' where you were keeping your emulsion ?
That, combined with the age of the emulsion could have been the 'perfect storm' mix.

If you don't use emulsion that often, you might want to get your emulsion in quart sizes to keep it fresher and not lose so much when it goes bad.

It's worth a shot to see if they work still. I've added tiny amounts of water to thin it out with good results. The key is tiny amounts! I guess some of the water evaporates out, but it's not like the sensitizers and whatnot evaporate as well.
