I just got a Ranar 6/6 and am having some trouble setting up the screens for a run. The press is in good working order, the issue is when I begin setup for a run, I dont have a technique or order to adjusting the angle of the screen and the off contact (by off contact I mean loosening the print head/screen mount that slides up and down) I dont have everything tuned to my screen size yet so I always having to adjust. Its usually a simple set-up, but lately its a real pain.
Was wondering what other peoples methods to set were. Thanks

Hi Brian

....not really familiar with Ranar press adjustments,
....but sometimes an 1/8" to 3/16" thick sheet of flat plywood that's the size of your frame O.D. (or larger)
set on your pallet can act as a "spacer" to rest the clamped screen on
while you retighten the bolts that hold the frame height and angle in place.

Note that if your screens vary alot in tension,
and your inks vary alot in viscosity,
off-contact settings will be a more frequent re-adjustment.
The more you can limit that variation, the less you'll have to adjust for.

A golden rule in screen printing:
The tighter the mesh, the easier to print.

Happy trails!
