Marketing to retailers

I have just started our line of T-shirts and we are now looking to find the proper trade shows to present our company and our products. Can someone recommend smaller regional trade shows that might be a good avenue for us to start. We feel we will be mostly targeting young adult market and the Christian markets as well. We have product that is both secular in nature and those with a Christian theme. We are located in the southeast so that area is preferable. Thank you very much.

Trade shows are a rough start, a better start is finding the requirements a retailer needs to buy the shirts, getting origin of shirt paperwork in order. For example do they have to be bagged, if so in quantities of how many? Do they require non toxic inks? Do they require their clothes on hangers? What kind of volume is necessary and at what distribution level? Then create sample packs of your shirts that meet such requirements. Find out how to create an account with the desired retailer in their purchasing department, and create a presentation. Doing regional homework helps too. Best of luck!:)
Thank you so much for this direction, I had not even thought of most of what you presented. I guess I need to slow down just a bit. I really do appreciate your instruction.

Have a great day.
