I need HELP !!!! I am using Illy CS3. I am trying to manipulate the SF Collegiate Font which can be found here :

SF Collegiate Font | dafont.com

Take any letter for example. I want to change the outline of this font to black and the center to green.

I have tried type>create outlines direct select the outline or the main portion to no avail the whole letter changes to the color that I am selecting.

I have even tried to Outline stroke to no avail, tired tracing but that option is not available.

Even tried to direct select the center to copy and paste but that does not work either.

How do I do this?

Thanks In Advance!!!

I'm not 100% sure exactly what it is your trying to do but you might want to try and "ungroup" your selected objects after you "Create Outline" or "Expand" the font.

That will easily enable you to grab the specific object with the direct or regular selction tools and then make your color changes.

Let me know if you need further help =)

Ok I tested what you explaned.

Solution:

1. The easy solution would be to "Create Outlines" with your font.

2. Then in the "Pathfinder" tab use the "Merge" button, to merge the font.

3. You can now successfully "Ungroup" with Object>Ungroup or Ctrl+Shift+G.

You should now be able to select the objects to make the color changes you want.

Let me know if this helped =)

Sullyman-

I just tried this twice with what you posted and it still doesnt work. The whole character still changes color.

I'm not sure if it has something to do with this particular font or not.

Did you try it on this font?

Thanks for the help.

Ok, most of the time when you buy or download for free college fonts there are three versions.. regular like you are working with.. inline, which is just the middle without the outline and solid black.. You are better off working with the solid black and then copy it and then take the copy and add what ever line width you want and make it the color you want and then past it behind the original.. that way you also don't loose any line thickness from the original the other method is you need to "split" the font you got.. I think in Illustrator it is clippking mask release or compound path release not sure what the corel command is.. more trouble email me at dlacart@mediacombb.net and I will do what I can to solve your issue. of course I am going to eat chicken wings and drink so may slur my email later
