Greetings.

Yup, I'm the new guy. Apologies in advance if I ask (and I will!) any silly questions.

My first question is to myself - why have I subscribed to this forum?.....

OK, here go's. I own a clothing store and I sell, amongst other things baby rompers and tees. I would describe my brands as 'mid priced' and baby brands I have stocked include the likes of Oh Baby London, No Addded Sugar, NWA and loads more besides. I have built my business up over the past 5 years and my next mission is to create my own line of baby tees and rompers. I am a complete novice in this field but I have done a bit of research prior to posting this message.

Here's where I'm at:

I have found a supplier of blank baby tees and rompers.

I have 'ideas' for designs.

I have found a company to produce 'tags' for the blanks.

So I've doen quite a bit but I'm stuck with one or 2 things....

QUESTION: What is a good program to use (i own photoshop already) to be able to put my design ideas into a useable format for the printers? (no i am not printing my own, looks fraught with danger!)

My designs (all in head!) are simple and mainly text based - we do well with text based designs in store and this is the way i wish to go. Trying to keep it simples!

QUESTION: Generally what advice or helpful hints can you give me.

Thanks in advance

:)

No apologies necessary, TSF gets many many new users each and every day...all have questions, you've come to the right place.

If you own PS and are comfortable using it then use it, depending on the printer you choose to work with and the type of process they use you'll either need files that are vector based or raster based, but for design PS will work just fine, you can output raster graphics from PS that can be imported into Corel or Illustrator (or other programs) and converted to a vector if needed.

Simple text is easy....any basic graphics program can do that with ease it's just a matter of the type of file your printer will require.

Go slow....think it through, find a good printer that you can work with locally that is willing to explain his printing options and processes and build on that relationship.

There are a few things you may not be aware of when printing on garments that will be sold to children that you might want to understand, this link should give you some insight.

Hope this helps.
