Hello All,

I would like to know if anyone had experience with working with fraternities or sororities designinig shirts. Check this site out:
customink.com
Apparently they design shirts for all kinds of greek orginizations. I would like to know to do service like this or just to make shirts for these greek orginizations, would licenses be required for each fraternity or sorority you do?

customink is basically just a company that provides screen printing services.

They may have some stock greek lettering on file, but they are mainly just a screen printing service like you'd find in your local phone book.

If you are a screen printer (or a heat press printer), then you can do the same thing. Usually the fraternity or sorrority will give you the artwork/design which they have license to print and you just print it :)

The fraternity takes care of the license stuff. It's usually the frat or sorrority that comes to you directly, so you don't have to worry about that too much.

I'm not sure what licensing issues there would be for greek symbols. Some of them are lust part of the greek alphabet, but some may be trademarked.

I'd check with the different greek organizations (or better yet a lawyer), before getting too close to redesigns of their logo.

Switching on my badalou sales hat, you could take your "recreations" of a frats logo to a local college and ask the frat directly if they would be interested in using your image (with you providing the printing services :)) You sell your design and you sell your services. Double win :D
