Hi! My friend and I are making our own socks. We've researched about making custom nike elites and we got confused. Do we buy a espon printer (with color inks), a heat press, blank WHITE socks, and transfer paper? So we would print the image on the transfer paper and press it to make the socks?

You will need special dye sublimation inks to do those socks correctly, plus all the other equipment you mentioned. You just can't buy a printer and use the ink that it comes with.
