The business license is a minimal cost. It's well worth it to put the paper work in. You need to go to three places in California. 1) Hall of County Records to record your business name, City Hall to register the name, and I think it's the retail sales permits or something like that.

Ask around or even call the IRS to find out. An accountant can help you, but I wouldn't let them do it for you or they'll charge $1,000 to do it.

I'd buy Name brand like Gildan, Hanes, Jerzee's, American Apparel, Anvil brand t-shirts.

Also your shirt selection will be limited buying in The Fashion District if your looking for Established brands carried at most the large distributors. But if your looking for Women's blanks you can find some quality merch

If you are buying in downtown LA then cut tags indicate a second. these shirt have some type of flaw, either color, construction, or irregular size. While you are down there, stop at American Apparel. You can't miss them, it is a giant pink building. They have a showroom right there.

American Apparel are made in the USA. They run twice as much as others but are very nice quality. Go to their shop, you will see.

Almost everything in the garment district is a blem. I wouldn't base a brand on anything from there. It may be hard to find the same shirt again. You can go any day of the week to the garment district. If you are going to American apparel, go to Bella as well. In my opinion it is a better product than American Apparel.

TSC, Allstyle are both in the Fullerton/Anaheim area. I think Staton, Broder and Alpha are all in the southland too.

It's called Small Business Association in some areas and Community Development in other areas.Since your tax $ pay for their services, they can tell you some basics about setting up your business according to your area. A chamber of commerce might can help. Look for business associations in the area. Hopefully that helps.

SBA Office List | SBA.gov This link is for the Small Business Association in each state. They offer free classes on business planning, census, marketing, and etc-all funded by Uncle Sam. The information is very general at the meetings that I have attended, but that's because I have been reading for years about ins and outs of running a biz. I will research Franchise Tax Board to see what I can learn.
