So depending on how many you want China might be a good place to get some made. I would recommend Northern China because that's where my old manufacturer is and there seems to be a difference between Northern and Southern China's manufacturing (biased).
Hit up a trade-show in Vegas to connect with some manufacturers. Get their info and then contact them about getting a sample made. Samples should run between $50-$150 depending on the manufacturer.
If you find a good fit then get them into production. Don't worry about having a custom sole because from my experience that's the most expensive part (opening new molds). Get a small run made and offer to pay a fee in addition to the piece price.
So if they offer to do something around $12 per shoe, tell them you'll give them $1000 plus the cost for however many you want otherwise they might try and get you to do a really large order so that they cover their costs (essentially try and pay for their costs and get a smaller order)
