Hi t-shirt forums!

I've spent the last 8 months developing a t-shirt startup and I'd love to get your feedback (I actually asked questions here on t-shirt forums way back at the beginning of the process and got a ton of good advice). I wanted to come back and show you what I've done, and get your opinion and feedback!

Here's how it works:
You start by going to Teespring - The best way to sell custom shirts on the Internet! and creating a shirt with our online designer, but instead of paying for your shirts upfront we ask you: "How many shirts do you think you can sell?". The higher the number, the lower the printing cost of your shirts. Then you choose between adding a profit to the shirts, or selling them at cost. Finally, you add a title and description to the t-shirt and we launch you a campaign like Limited Edition HJKL Vi T-Shirt (a real example where a blogger made over $6,000USD)!

You promote the t-shirt to whoever you want (we find that Facebook and Twitter work really well) and supporters can reserve t-shirts for free. Once you reach your goal, we automatically charge the buyers and organize the printing & shipping, and send you a check for the profit!

------

That's my pitch! I'd love to know what you guys think, and what you think we could still improve! You can actually test the system by launching a campaign at Teespring - The best way to sell custom shirts on the Internet! (it's completely free).

Best,
Walker

It's something we're working on adding right now! We wanted to wait until we had a bunch of awesome campaigns (a lot of campaigns right now are hyper-local, team shirts, college shirts, etc.) but I can definitely see the value!

I'll get that added, thanks again for the feedback!

Your idea sounds awesome. Did you know that facebook recently changed their guidelines for how your page is promoted? They now charge you per post to promote each one. This is not a hoax either. Most pages have already been updated.
@LMCTees actually, this isn't correct at all. Nothing has changed in the way that Facebook displays posts you make to your fan page. The same algorithm is there. They just *added* an additional way that allows you to *guarantee* that your post will be shown to *all* of your fans, whereas before you had to post and hope. You don't have to pay Facebook anything and everything will work as it always had.

Back to the topic though...

@TeespringDotCom This seems like an interesting idea. When do you charge the customers? Do you have any issues with the customer not knowing what the charge is for?

I really like the concept but will you be offering different styles of shirts? Example: ladies fitted, childrens, tanks, hoodies etc?
Also, I tested a design with a white background on a white tshirt and the square of the background was visible on the mockup. Obviously, I wouldn't want this. Can it accept .png files to avoid this as posting the mockup as shown is not desirable as the customer would think it is part of the design?
