Our Specialty Products Plant will be getting 2 - 3 new heat presses. Due to our situation labor costs are not a factor so we will be initially using manual presses. The largest transfer that we will be doing will be just under 12" so the need for now and at least the next 2-3 years plus dictates something around a 14" X 16" or a 15" X 15". We will be doing cold peels as 95% will be on a nylon material. Our annual pressing will be in excess of 60K items with 50K being a design @ 7.5" X 5.5" the other will be lettering on the nylon material. Additionally due to space we will be leaning toward clamshell presses.

We are considering the following presses:

1) GeoKnight - DK16, 14" X 16" Digital Clamshell
2) Stahls' - 15" X 15" Mighty Press Digital Clamshell
3) Hix - HT-400-D, 15" X 15" Digital
4) Phoenix - Phoenix Phire 16" X 16" (mfg by Stahls')

I/we would like some input into our selections and possible pros/cons for those willing to assist. Thank you very much in advance.

Bob. They are all good choices. You probably can't go wrong with any one of them.

Stahls, Hix or Phoenix - you may find it may be easier to load your item onto a smaller or custom fit lower platen if you will be pressing the same item over and over - so you may want to consider your style with that in mind.

Also - with 60K applications per year you may want to look at the most durable framework and get a few referrals of companies who have put a couple hundred thousand hits on these particular models.

We will have @ 8 main item to press. Various sizes from 5.25 X 7.25 to 3.75 X 11. A couple will be @ 5.75 X 10.5. These will make up @ 95% of our output.
