Ok, I've got an annoying problem with my Anajet FP-125
It's been troubling me all this week and last week.

It's been printing random vertical lines "next" to the images I print. It prints all CMYK and White lines. It's annoying.. I've wasted so many shirts.

I searched hardcore on the internet and found nothing =(

I cleaned everything.. I cleaned the encoder strip, I got rid of as much dust as I could, colors are printing 100%...

Only thing that seems to work is cleaning the encoder strip.. but it only helps randomly. Yesterday I thought it was the solution. But today it's not helping.

I cannot get ahold of anyone from Anajet. I was on hold for 2 hours and got no one. Called again today, current wait time is 2 hours WTF. I'd appreciate any input.

Here's a pic:

Phil,
I would order a new encoder strip. There could be scratches on there from cleaning abraision, dust or solvents. If the head cannot "see" the microscopic etching on the encoder strip, this is what happens. Take some canned air and blow out the slot/sensor behind the head. The only other thing that I've seen this on is when printing a color layer at a different resolution than the CMYK layer, but this was fixed by a new driver or RIP version(2-3 years ago?). Other than making sure you have the latest of both of those, I would get a new strip.

Zoom Thanks.
I have EKPrint Studio.. There's no way "update" or check of updates in any of the options.

Figured it was probably the encoding strip. Where's the best place to order a new one? Please don't say Anajet.

There are update on the... Anajet site. Just log in to tech support and you'll see videos, software etc. There are many sources other than Anajet that will carry 1800/1900 parts

Thanks. Updated my drivers..EKPrint is already up to date.

So an encoder from Epson 1800 would work?

Any part-time solutions?? I have jobs due and I can't get it to stop printing these. Even if it's just white on black, it prints color in the white. =(

does it do this with multiple designs? have you tried printing different formats: png, tiff, jpeg?

if the new encoder strip didn't fix the problem it's possible that the sensor the encoder strip passes through is dirty. this isn't very easy to clean, but you could try to soak a lint free wipe with alcohol and try to clean that area. i wouldn't rub it so much as wipe it and see if you get any dirt/ink on the wipe. this is just a guess as something is telling the print head to spray. so it's either a corrupted file, corrupted RIP, encoder strip, or the sensor that reads the info off of the encoder strip. also try printing direct from your graphics program. this doesn't yield the best result, but it would eliminate the RIP as the problem.

Does it on all file types, all resolutions... does it with white and cmyk. =(

Re-installed EKPrint to be safe...even the drivers.
It's super hard to clean behind the print head... I used can air to blow through the "sensor"

Still does it.
For a few days turning off bi-directional allowed it to work.
But now it's doing it again and if you turn on bi-directional it does it all over the shirt super bad.

Anajet just talks to you like you don't know what you are doing and make you clean the printer blah blah. I take care of the printer. Cleaning doesn't make a difference unless I did it every time before I print...but that still isn't for certain.

You can use sewing machine oil from Walmart, or any sewing machine store. If the head and its carriage do not ride smoothly on that rail, it can cause the head and it's sensors to be unable to accurately calculate its position. This would cause the random printing of lines, just as a bad registration strip.

Hello,
My name is Ray and I am in charge of tech Support at AnaJet. I just want to let everyone that we have expanded our tech support and you will be able to get right through when calling in. In case anyone does not have the tech support phone number, it is 714-668-6000.

Abut the problem in question. Your right, I would definitely start out by cleaning the encoder strip but this could be something a little more complicated. There could be something wrong with the print head, print head flexi cables or possibly the print engine board. I would love to be able to talk about this problem over the phone and go over ways to resolve the issue. If you would, please give us a call or e-mail tech1@AnaJet.com
