Unless your logo is rectangular and would fit on say an 8.5x11 sheet of transfer paper you would need the cutter. If you don't cut it, there will be white outside your logo on the shirt. If you are just making a few shirts you could use a razor knife to cut them out before pressing.
If you are going the 8.5x11 route without cutting, I am not sure if your printer can do borderless printing on a transfer. I have never tried it and I'm out of transfers for my 7520(same printer,extra tray)or else I would try it. I don't see why it couldn't. If it can't you would still need to trim the little bit of white surrounding your logo.
