i have someone that wants me to print some "t shirts" for a running team. she has asked that the shirts resemble a t shirt and be light weight. we are here in georgia so i do understand in that she asked for a light weight fabric. I am new to the business and i mostly use gildan 2000 or 5000 shirts. i know there are lighter weight shirts out there, can someone please recommend a very light weight shirt that i can present to the customer.

thanks

Not sure how light you need.

The 5000 is a 5.3 oz
The 2000 is a 6.1 oz
the 64000 series is 4.5 oz

Not sure if you need to get down to the ultralight stuff or not, but...

I've printed A LOT of Gildan 64000 Series shirts.

the 67000 is a standard T (Unisex)
the 64000L is a female cut T
the 64V00L is a female cut V neck T

They are all 4.5 oz
These have been the most popular over here with me....

I wanted to check an alternative to the 64000's and so I just ordered 170 Tultex shirts today.

the 202TC is a standard T (Unisex)
the 213TC is a female cut T
the 214TC is a female cut V neck T

These are also all 4.5 oz ... I'm hoping they are a little nicer than the 64000's ....
Some of the 64000 standard T's I got have a funky fit to them... depending on the individual, the 5000's fit better, but are heavier.

I'm hoping these are a good alternative, in the same price range (And the plus sizes are barely and more money)

No problem.

I'm pretty happy with the price of the Tultex as long as they are AS GOOD as the 64000's

I asked here on the forum for a direct comparison, but got no response.

I run my own brand, so the tear off tags on the Tultex stuff is a big bonus to me.

We can't discuss specific pricing here, but, I think I can say that I also dig the + size prices. They get a heck of a lot more than that for the Gildan + sizes. At least through my supplier.

If you want, I can update you on my opinion of the Tultex when I get them. I just ordered today, and they are coming UPS ground, not sure when I'll have em. Maybe as late as Thursday or Friday.

yes that would be great to have the update...also since we are talking, do you know of a brand of shirt that may note fade as much, i have a eatery that needs t shirts(black) that do not fade as much as the gildan...

I don't know.
I'm pretty new to printing myself.

I'm not new to merchandise though. I used to buy these Gildans all the time.... I can tell you that certain colors fade worse than others.

For instance.... I washed a 5000 this week and it was noticeably faded after one wash.... granted, it was a test wash, and I ran it hot and hard.

I think the fades might vary by color though.... I've got a friend that still has one of my shirts from 2005 - a red Gildan... seems the same as the current heavy cotton ... not sure if it's a 5000 or if they were different then, but that joker is still RED. I'm sure it's faded from original, but still looks good.

I was told the Tultex has great washability, but, you know, they are selling them ;) Time will tell.

I'll wash a brand new Gildan 5000 and a Tultex 202 together, then lay em up for new/wash comparisons.
