Legal Question

Hi I am new to the T shirt world. I had an idea for a T shirt that involves using a Spartan in full gear. Do I have to worry about getting sued from movie companies like those that made the movie 300?

I know the Spartan story and clothing has been out long before the movies has been made but if I do not reference anything associated with the movie accept for the image of a Spartan or its head gear do I have anything to worry about? Thanks.

Sparta is history, and is not owned by any company--other than any original art such a company may have produced or any thing they may have trademarked or copyrighted, like the name of their movie, for example. You are just as free as they were to create your own art/concept based on this ancient history.

Though I'm sure someone will try to tell you otherwise out of an overabundance of fear of the legal profession.

Agreed. Only what is directly related to the movie would be owned as IP. Creating your own art based on Spartan history is fine.
