Layering question...

1071 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  jokerz816
Hi all !

I am doing some designs that are more of a cartoony nature. Lines with color filler. (think Disney - esque characters).
I am doing the work in photoshop and will be handing the files off to the printer

The printer told me that the colors have to be on different layers. Which I get.

My question is, do ALL the layers have to be set on "normal" or can the lines be on a "multiply" (transparent) level while the colors are on "normal" .
Or does it even matter??

Welcome any and all help on this matter. Thanks !

If you're printer is going to use the layers as screen plates, then DO NOT use the layer transparency functions. If they use "channel" color separation methods, it wont matter what you do to the image art or layers. From what you posted, you'll probably just want to keep the art really simple and on color based layers so they can print the plates.

Hey there! thanks for the reply. sorry to answer late to you. Probs with my computer.

yeah I kinda thought that that might be the case. I have to go back and "correct" an aweful lot now due to that. VERY time consuming.
The work itself is pretty detailed. But hopefully that wont add to my problems later on down the line.

Thanks for the response, I very much appreciate it.
