I am looking at either Dye Sublimation or White Laser Toner Printer Systems. And I can't seem to find a few pieces of info that I am wondering about and I keep goin' back and fourth with which setup to go with. Below is a list of questions I am having troubles with either finding or getting mixed info on.

1: Dye Sublimation can only be on white / light colored garments?

2: If you can or How do you Dye Sublimate on Darks?

3: Is all dye sublimation apparel expensive....and if so
what is the cheapest brand or where can you buy it a
wholesale?

4: Can you dye sublimate on 50/50 garments?

5: On Sublimation & Laser Toner Transfers do you have to cut around them or the self weeding?

6: Would you suggest Sublimation or Laser Toner for a Semi-Start Up? Mainly someone that is new to the whole laser toner and sublimation space but not screenprinted transfers or screenprinted apparel.

That is all my questions I have right now. I'll add more questions when more arise.

Thanks

Hi Kyle,
Let me reply you each by turn.

1: Dye Sublimation can only be on white / light colored garments?

a) Yes it has to be white either or whiter tones like apple white, off white, light creamy, mild pink etc depends on the back ground tone you would like to take out if you know mixing the pantone pallets well.

2: If you can or How do you Dye Sublimate on Darks?

a) "we do not" we use the whites & if require black back ground then we print the black as a part of the artwork.

3: Is all dye sublimation apparel expensive....and if so
what is the cheapest brand or where can you buy it a
wholesale?

a) Sub printing cost us per square inch expenditure of inks & transfer paper so we cost it overall keeping the garments length overall colors, number of parts etc.

4: Can you dye sublimate on 50/50 garments?

a) sure sublimation works well on 50/50, 60/40, tri-blend cotton,poly,viscose.

5: On Sublimation & Laser Toner Transfers do you have to cut around them or the self weeding?

a) it depends on to the artworks normally over all jobs are self weeding.

6: Would you suggest Sublimation or Laser Toner for a Semi-Start Up? Mainly someone that is new to the whole laser toner and sublimation space but not screenprinted transfers or screenprinted apparel.

a) Let your artwork define it, if you may share some part of it may be we can help but keep one thing in mind sublimation vs laser toner is all about a difference of little blurry "sublimation" & a bit sharper "LT" printing results.

Hope it will help.

What is the difference between Chromablast inks vs Toner. From what i've read you can achieve the same effects with both. Or am I reading something wrong?

I've noticed you can use Chromablast on 50/50 and cotton apparel. To use chromablast on darks you have to print on a
white opaque paper and then use a contour cutter to cut out the design.

And for laser toner you can print on 50/50 and cotton apparel, also to print on darks you have to print on a selfweeding imageclip paper that is white.

Now the only difference between the two really is the price of the systems. And one is ink and the other is toner. Is this right or am I missing anything?
