Laser transfers versus plastisol transfers

Newbie here. Ready to buy my heat press. But I have a dilemma. I have a small embroidery business and some of my customers are requesting t-shirts with their logos and lettering across the back.
I like the plastisol transfers, but since this is considered "custom" designs, I have found them to be quite expensive. Now, I'm considered buying the OKI 610n and doing my own laser transfers. I'm hoping the technology has improved. Sometimes I'll only need 10 shirts. I have Corel Draw, and know just enough to be dangerous. Another problem is matching a business's colors.

I did get a quote for 8 x 5, 4 color for $8.50 per shirt. Seems high.

I'm a bit overwhelmed and would appreciate any opinions and insight.

Thank you in advance.

laser transfers can be tricky..the Oki is a fine printer to use...it will take some testing to dial in your printer/paper/heat press. A forum member, Luis ( Lnfortun) a forum member is an expert I think with the oki lasers...see this post where he has a pdf with tips:

The Oki610 is an excellent choice. Once you master the application of TrimFree and ImageClip laser papers (spot colors only) you should get very good results.

Is that any size? That is high for a shirt before markup. I sell $8.50 for S-XL cotton blend white or grey and $9.00 for 100% cotton. I add extra $2.00 for XXL and $3.00 for XXXL. I do my own design and printing with unlimited number of colors. If it cost $8.50 a shirt then mark it up 40% or 60% you are talking $11.90 and $13.60 respectively. That will be in the range of XXL and XXXL respectively of my pricing.

I don't own c610. I do know Okidata printer is good for heat transfer paper especially It is 2 step self weeding ImageClip Laser Light which I use. I don't care much for single step self weeding laser transfer. It cracks, flake off and fade after wash.
That size was the size of transfer I got a quote on.
