The title of the post says Photoshop...do you have Photoshop? If you only have a word program you will need to invest in a graphics program. If you are looking to go the free way, look at Inkscape. Or spend a couple of hundred and get Corel or Illustrator.
If your Competitor is hand drawing everything…not knowing why or what you are looking to make, you will be able to create things much faster with a program.
With Corel I can make letters and any shape any size I want.

I happen to know that in MS Word, you can actually just manually type in the font size you want if larger than its presets. If there are any restrictions at all, it's probably different from font to font. That said, I don't think MS Word or similar programs were designed to composite text that would otherwise print outside the 8.5x11 boundaries.

Thanks Whisperer, I checked, I have Paintshop4 and 6, not photoshop.
