Has any one made large format prints on shirts using a standard sized laser printer.
If you had a large format printer can you cut the paper in half and only use half a sheet?
You can always gang images in large format media the cut to pieces. It is actually an economic solution if you small pieces of the same artwork of combination of full size and small objects like crest sizes as long they all fit in one sheet.

For 2 step self weeding transfers like Imageclip Laser Light and dark transfers marry and weed them first before cutting.

ABSOLUTELY!
Here is a video series about a new piece of software that two of us developed that does a great job of this.
I can send you pictures of designs as large as 16 x 18 that I've done using the OKI 711WT printer.

I-Split Large Designs from Small Printers

Which printer do you have? I'd love to process some sample files or send you some samples so you can see how it works!

I have not chosen a printer yet. Still researching options.
Your videos were helpful.
Still looking for an answer if I have to use a full sheet or can I cut sheets down to a custom size. For instance a client that just wants a sleeve logo but I don't want to make more than one or have any other images to gang on a sheet

Thanks - we are working on more videos, I'll keep the group informed.

Cutting sheets is certainly "possible" - in fact there is a "Layout" function in the Forever Transfer Rip where you can define a custom sheet size and place one or more graphics to it. When this is then output to the Rip it maintains that custom size for printing and the printer(OKI models) certainly supports sizes from around as small as an index card to as large as the full width of the feed tray and 52" length.

Some media is very easy to cut, namely all of the one step media. The Forever LaserDark A-Transparency for sure can be cut - but the coating is VERY easy to SCRATCH! It is very likely you will scratch it while handling it and this can affect the print quality. Then you also have to cut the B-Sheet as well. Then the question becomes how do you store and manage the pieces after cutting.

But YES is the answer to your question!

There is no problem cutting down bulk paper to other sizes, other than getting it flat to run through a sheet printer.

After much deliberation, shopping and consultation...Thank you all! We have chosen the OKI MC873dn All-in-One Color LED Printer to purchase. I belive this model to be an 831 with copier/fax/scanner with networking and duplex ability even has a stapler. LOL. Our model comes with a bottom cabinet for additional storage.
