I was wondering do I need illustrator to just print out photos on t-shirts. Can I just use photoshop? There isn't much design I need to do, Will PS CS2 suffice? If so, What sort of settings are good for making T-shirts? I'm printing on dye sub inkjet printer and using a heat press.

Illustrator is for "vector" graphics - generally, lines, shapes, etc. Things made in Illustrator have the advantage of being able to be resized to any size without losing any quality, but they generally need to be something more simplistic than a photograph.

Photoshop - or nearly any imaging program, depending on what type of effects you might want to employ - will work just fine for photographs, which are "raster" graphics.
