Ok so I just got my epson 1400 in the mail today. I have it all set up but i know nothing of cleaning the heads or anything like that. I have been told I should use Pigment ink instead of the claria ink for making transfers...is this true? I wanted to know if I should just wait till I get the other ink before I use it because I don't want to have to clean out the heads. Also, which is the best paper to use? Im a Patriots fan living in Florida so I would like to make up Pats shirts for the game on Nov 23rd to hand out with my info on them. I wanted something nice so I can use them to promote my business. :) ...Thanks Nick

You will not have to "clean" the heads in any special way. Install the new ink system and run a head clean or two...that's all you need.

oh ok, so it's just like an option in the print settings? I thought you had to physically clean the heads...thanks so much!
members have reported good results with the claria ink and JPSS paper...

Don't forget if you use the team logo without permission, you may get more attention than you want

Go into the print dialogue box and go to the maintenance menu. There you will see various options including head cleaning.

I use the Claria inks with JetPro Softstretch (JPSS) paper which as proven to work well with the Claria. Otherwise, if you use any other paper, then I would recommend using pigment ink which you would have to get from a third party provider.

Good luck!

For my epson 1400 ...
I DID NOT install the claria carts ......!!!!!
Because I was told that if I did and later wanted to use "pigment inks" I WOULD have to do a total cleaning!...(flushing out all of the "dye' ink BEFORE installing the pigment ink.

IF you ever want to use OPAQUE paper for dark shirts, then I would suggest that you use only PIGMENT ink.

IF you are ONLY going to print on WHITE shirts...then use JPPS paper(jetprosofstretch) and Dye or Pigment ink.

if it were me......

I would only use PIGMENT ink no matter what!
....then your options for ALL inkjet papers will be open!! :)

What I use......???

Papers......

White shirts ----- JPPS (jetprosofstretch manufactured by NEENAH)
Dark & all color shirts----Jetwear Dark (Jet-Opaque manufactured by NEENAH)

Ironall for Darks is supposed to be GREAT as well....I will be testing the NEW batch as soon as my 'samples' get here!) :)

Printers.........

Epson C120
Epson 1400

INKS AND CARTS.....

HT pigment inks ----- inkjetcarts.us (12.00 for 4oz.!!!) :)
Re-fillable carts-------inkjetcarts.us

I had some paper back at home that I originally bought to screen print on and then press onto shirts as I make tee shirts for a website and don't want to drop ink on the screen every time I get an order. I can Finally use that as well. I forget what kind of paper it is but Im having my mother ship it down to FLA to me. I should get it tomorrow and Ill see if that is something i can use to print on using my printer. At the very least I can atleast start making shirts to order...
