JPSS Horrible results

Hey guys,

I've been a lurker for a long time and decided to join. I'm using JPSS and the quality is horrible. When you lift the print off, the fuzz on the shirt pulls up. The ink looks faded. Heavy hand. Outline. I've tried every possible solution from changing temp, pressure, time, pre-pressing, post pressing, parchment sheets, etc. I'm using 100% cotton. I'm about ready to throw in the towel and either switch to vinyl only or learn how to screen print.

I don't know what kind of a heat press you have, but if it doesn't have digital pressure adjustments the following will give you good pressure:

Light pressure - close and lock press with one or two fingers
Medium pressure - close and lock press with one hand and a little elbow grease
Heavy pressure - close and lock press with two hands and a lot of elbow grease

Now put a clean shirt on the press and heat the press to 350°F. Pre-press at 350°F for 5-10 seconds with medium pressure to remove any moisture. Let the shirt cool. Next place the design face down (make sure it's mirrored) on the shirt and place a sheet of kraft paper, parchment paper, or clean copy paper on top of that. Now with medium to heavy pressure, press for 30 seconds at 350°F. Peel right away. Next gently stretch the fabric and put shirt back on press. Cover with parchment paper and press at 350°F with medium to heavy pressure for 5 seconds more. And that should give you perfect results. If you're still having issues you might have a bad batch of paper.

I find that problem doesn't exist if you do the following.

1. 375 deg.

2. 30 seconds

3. HEAVY pressure, it should be very difficult to close the heat press.

4. Recover with parchment and repress for 10 seconds.

5. Only use 50/50 tshirts.

Been using JPSS for many years now, once I went to those settings I have zero issues. JPSS has a learning curve, but I find once you overcome that you have consistent results.

Prepress is OK too, I'm in a very dry environment so it's not necessary for me, but humid climates prepressing gets rid of any moisture in the tshirt.

And the box around graphic how do you remove it?

If pressed correctly and using white 50/50 then the box is barely discernible after pressing, after the first wash it is gone then it won't show.

If light tshirt colors then you can use a vinyl cutter with optical eye to trim or manual cut.

Another trick if you have "liberty" in your design is to place a square/rectangle border around the graphic then cut with paper cutter to the edges.
