today i printed onto jpss for the first time with my epson 7010 with OEM pigment ink and the colors looked very vivid at first but the colors faded after one min..

we tried already on teoma solutions light paper and they turned out great.. anyone know why this happens? should i just stick with the teoma stuff?

Thanks for responding.
We did press it , 2 different designs. They're pretty faded, especially compared to the shirts pressed with Teoma Solutions paper (got it free with our press )

I was very excited when they rolled out of the printer, vivid as can be.
But after 30 or so second it was as faded as can be.

Is this normal?
I bought the JPSS on eBay, could it be old?

Fade is normal before transfering due to the inks penetrating deep into the paper as it has "layers", that is actually a good thing and by design. The "pop" should come back after pressing. If it doesn't then your setting in the Epson printer driver could be wrong. I use plain paper setting, some use the matte paper setting.

WIth JPSS you should use heavy pressure, it should be difficult to close the platen, also repress with a parchment paper covering for about 10 seconds after the initial peel.

Also, your source image might not be optimized (gamma) before you print. Start with this photo for your testing, it is a perfect photo.

thnx for the help,
I already figured it out... had to adjust the printer settings to "Best quality" and adjust the colors/contrast/brightness.
"Best quality" is 5600 dpi, way way overkill for tshirts and slooowwwww to print. I have the WF1100 and should be very similar. Your paper type determines the ink coverage amount. I use "plain paper" and "Text + graphic" setting this is about 1400 dpi, it will print twice as fast than higher setting and you won't really see the resolution difference on a tshirt anyway. If you have to adjust images beyond normal photo editing you are doing something wrong.

OEM "durabrites" should give similar results except you will get some color shift to yellow after heat pressing.

See the photo.

Cobra pigment inks using JPSS paper, WF1100 at 1400 dpi. Top image is with the Cobra profile and the lower image is without the profile. The profile gives a little more "pop" but technically without the profile I gets more accuracy.

Suggest to use JPSS and Cobra pigment inks, they supply inks for the Epson 7010.

Well I don't know then. If I have the same settings in normal quality it gets real dull looking.. ?!

No idea what to do, I'm not using cobraink btw, using durabrite ink.
If you use "matte" paper setting then you can use a higher DPI. Plain paper setting restricts the dpi. Do not use a "glossy photographic" paper setting. Paper type settings and "quality" are not the same thing but some paper type settings restrict the "quality" settting options. Try "presentation matte paper" Glossy Photo Papers require less ink, so avoid that setting.

Cobra inks are 1/5 the cost of Epson inks and do not shift yellow when transfering. They wash very well using a good transfer paper since they are pigment based.
