honestly i don't think it's a good setup at all..
You have to take your screens off of your press when you want to expose..
There is no press, but a weird pole system.
the screens are only 11x15 which isn't large enough to do any standard size t-shirt prints.

I don't know if ryonet ships out of the US, but if you compare one of their kits around the same price range you get so much more and you get a real press:
Silk Screen Printing Starter Kit
that's a 1 color press with 1 screen, but everything else you would need.. Add in a few more screens, more supplies, and a heat gun and you are still under your $475 mark of your kit.

Or they have a 2 color press kit that is only about $100 more than the kit you suggested and is way better too:
Econo 2 Color Screen Printing Kit

with both of these you are getting full size screens for shirt printing (20x24). You are also getting a real press that is separate from your exposure unit.

I'm not saying that ryonet is the best or that you should look into them, but I was giving you a comparison to guide you. I am not sure what you can get locally in the UK, but that kit doesn't seem that great to me.. It definitely isn't very professional and I wouldn't want to be printing lots of shirts with that setup.

If you have any other questions feel free to msg me!!

Hi guys thanks for your replys,

I check the Dave rowley dude out and his gear is far too expensive! Looking at spending £350 max so this is out of the question!

Ill go with this stuff anyway to start then we can expand at a later date I guess!

Thanks

i would honestly avoid it as it looks like it will cause more headaches than anything, but you do what you gotta do. Good luck and if you have any other questions feel free to ask me.

Frankly, I'd get a couple of jiffy clamps and a board. For the life of me, looking at the photo, I can't even figure out how you'd print a shirt with that setup. What is with the pole? Why are the clamps so far up it? Is that supposed to be some kind of replacement for a carousel? What part of this am I missing?

I'll see how it goes and then if its poo I'll upgrade it in the future!

Hey, MAKE it work! I'm reluctant about being too critical of any system. I feel it's more about knowing what you're doing and having a thorough knowledge of the screen printing process. That's as important as the equipment you use. And with that, you'd be surprised at what can work...and well.

The way those cats roll in the Phillipines is testimony to the value of creativity, knowledge and ingenuity.
People will argue what's "best" but that's relative and quite subjective.

Heck, there's a guy who made a t-shirt heat press out of a hotplate. His transfer shirts smell like sausage but that's his gimmick (joking about the sausage).

Post back your progress.

I am really interested to see how it works and the results you are able to obtain. I have used sub par equipment and while it takes extra time and may cause frustration, good results can be obtained.

I wish you luck and if you need any help with any of the other processes involved just ask.

After using some of the Frankenpresses I've made I'm sure you'll make it work...if not, build yourself one. I've got the plans if you've got the skills.

I might be a bit dim today (like today is really different), but I would love to see that press in action and video is always a good thing.
