I have a Geo Knight DK20S 16X20 swing-away press.

I want to press some dance bags and found a small barrel-duffle bag that I would love to use. But I can't figure out how to make it work in my heat press.

I can't open it up and slide it onto my lower platen because it's to small to fit. I can't fold it flat because it's too small to be able to fold down the sides underneath the area I want to press. I don't think I can add a smaller lower platen to my press. If I stuff a pillow or something in the bag, it will be too thick to close my press.

Am I out of luck in pressing any bags that are smaller like this, or is there a heat press trick that I don't know? I am pretty new at this, so I thought maybe there's some way to do it that I haven't learned.

Thanks.

You could try the "tee pad it" from heat press essentials:

Those "tee pads" look great..

depending on the time frame you have for the bags you can use mouse pads from ikea for $1

flip bag upside so the straps are hanging outside the heat press. Press them once (light pressure) to get them flat.. then place the mouse pad inside the bag and the do your normal pressing (use a teflon sheet on top) unless you have the teflon top cover.

If there are any buttons or metal on the straps cover them up..

Although a press with changeable platens sounds great and I would love one, some of us don't have it like that so we make do with what we have. As FatKat suggested, I use mousepads or a teflon pillow. Place the pad or pillow inside the bag, and press. I have pressed everything you can imagine and there is no such thing as "too small" for a heat press. Where there is a will there is a way.
